Tacos & Taco Salad — Making it “Clean”

To make things easy for meal-planning lots of times we’ll do Tuesday Taco Night.  This is my go-to recipe for Tacos.  Sometimes I will switch it up BUT why mess with a good thing?

If am doing a 30-day cleanse, I’ll forgo the taco shell and just make a salad for myself.  It’s all the same ingredients, just a bit more of the veggies like lettuce & tomatoes.

Taco Seasoning

1 Tablespoon Chili Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Onion Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

1/4 Teaspoon Dried Oregano

1/2 Teaspoon Paprika

1 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin

1 Teaspoon Sea Salt

Mix all spices together in a small bowl and set to the side.

Making your Tacos/Taco Salad

Ground Meat of your Choice — I usually do Grass-Fed Beef or Organic Turkey

Diced Tomatoes

Shredded Head Lettuce

Your Favorite Fresh Salsa (make sure there isn’t any vinegar in it)

Fresh Guacamole or Avocados

Tortillas or Taco Shells of your choosing (or skip all together to keep it super clean and healthy)

  1. Start by browning your ground meat on medium in a skillet.

  2. Once it’s completely brown & even a bit caramelized, add in the taco seasoning and about 1/2 cup of water. Stir to combine. It’s done when the spices/water have been incorporated.

  3. From here just make you taco salads/tacos as you like.

  4. Enjoy!
